SACHEM Publishes New White Paper: SACHEM Core-shell Technology for Li Ion Battery

Austin, TX Thursday September 3, 2015  SACHEM published the white paper titled “SACHEM Core-Shell Technology for Li Ion Battery” on its website. The white paper details SACHEM’s core-shell chemistry which is a facile low temperature process method to prepare metal oxide shells on active ceramic particles for Li ion battery cathode material manufacture. With the application of SACHEM’s cathode coating technology there is notable improvement in capacity, rate capability, and cycle life of lithium ion batteries.

“SACHEM core-shell technology brings a lot of process advantages, as well as an easily controllable shell thickness that is extendable over a wide range of conductive and insulating oxide shell materials” says Fred Hao, senior R&D scientist, “Based on experimental results, this technology can increase battery cathode operation voltage, elevate discharge capacity, improve rate capacity and stabilize capacity performance.”

Craig Allen, SACHEM chief technology officer, pointed out “We are right now focused on commercializing this technology in consumer electronics energy storage. We continue to enrich this technology platform refine it for the specific needs of electric vehicles and stationary power storage applications. “

“SACHEM’s expertise in high purity ionic chemistry has allowed us to create a unique method to coat cathode materials” stated Brian Mooney, Energy Storage Market Manager at SACHEM, “we are excited to work with industry leaders to create safer, better performing products.”
