SACHEM To Present and Exhibit At Bioprocess International 2007

Austin, TX- September 26, 2007–  SACHEM announced today that they will present and exhibit at the BioProcess International event Oct. 1-4 in Boston.  Dr. Barry Haymore, Director of New Technology Development, will be presenting a poster on SACHEM’s Expell™ line of displacers for use in displacement chromatography.

Dr. Haymore’s poster titled, New Displacers Give Superior Purity and Recovery of Biomolecules, demonstrates the power of SACHEM’s Expell™ displacers and displacement chromatography.  Expell™ is a convenient technology with the capacity to provide higher product yield and throughput.

“Displacement chromatography has been around for a long time.  However, it has been underutilized due mostly to the fact that pure, well-defined displacers were not available, commented Barry Haymore, Director of New Technology at SACHEM.  Expell™ displacers are pure, well-defined, anionic and cationic organic molecules with low molecular weights allowing their facile removal from biomolecules via dialysis or ultrafiltration.

SACHEM’s high purity and precision expertise combined with the initial work of Steven M. Cramer at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, makes displacement chromatography practical. “SACHEM uses its high purity manufacturing capabilities to design, synthesize and manufacture displacers that make this technology effective. Moreover, SACHEM’s experience with displacement chromatography gives us the insight to make this process simple and convenient, commented Dr. Richard Goodin, Vice President of Technology at SACHEM. “Expell™ displacers and displacement chromatography can have an important impact on the purification of proteins at the bench and large scale.  Displacement chromatography with pure displacers can provide significant increases in capacity.
