Austin, TX Wednesday, Sept 13, 2017 SACHEM has its headquarters in Texas, USA. A Category 4 hurricane, Harvey made landfall in coastal Texas with winds of 130 miles per hour, bringing massive destruction to communities in its path. Governor Greg Abbott of Texas expanded a disaster declaration to include 50 counties, and 30 of those counties have been declared federal disaster areas.
SACHEM partnered with Americares to create a Hurricane Harvey Disaster Relief Fund where SACHEM will match donations made by its associates. Americares is working with local health centers, free clinics and response partners in Texas to meet the requests for water, medications, medical supplies and emergency deliveries. Medical aid is for those with chronic conditions like kidney failure, diabetes and asthma. Preventative care (vaccines) is also available as standing water and debris could provide ideal breeding grounds for insects including mosquitoes which in Texas can carry the West Nile virus.
John Mooney, SACHEM’s President and CEO consulted with family members and friends in Houston and researched several charities before deciding on Americares. “Americares is very highly rated and I believe medical aid is especially important in the wake of devastation Harvey has left in Texas. They will efficiently bring medical relief to our fellow citizens here in Texas. It is so very gratifying to see our associates’ generosity for those in need. ” said Mooney.
The SACHEM Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund program is set to run through the end of September.
