Carbohydrate Cationization

SACHEM is one of the oldest and leading global producers of 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl trimethylammonium chloride (REAGENS-S-CFZ or CHPT) and the glycidyl derivative GMAC. Both are derived from epichlorohydrin and trimethylamine and serve as the market’s main cationization agents.

SACHEM’s Reagens™ and GMAC™ are utilized in the cationization of starch. Our customers use our cationization agents to cationize starch to be utilized by the paper industry for processing of high quality paper grades. SACHEM offers the following products for carbohydrate cationization:

  • Reagens™ 65 supplied in bulk, IBC’s and drums
  • Reagens™ 69 supplied in bulk, IBC’s and drums
  • GMAC™ cationization agent with lower stability than Reagens™; supplied in bulk, IBC’s and drums
