Oilfield Applications Scientist
The Oilfield Applications Scientist will have experience leading multifaceted, complex product development projects with teams in Technology and with external partners. Supervisory experience is required but this position will also involve in-lab and hands-on materials formulation, characterization and optimization research in selected areas. Emphasis will be on the development and screening of chemical formulations associated with energy production with special emphasis on oil field applications.
Primary Responsibilities:
Coordinate SACHEM technology efforts in chemical formulation development for oilfield and related energy production applications.
Prioritize and develop strategies for characterization of performance product and product blend formulations.
Manage a portfolio of significant projects with emphasis on timely delivery to deadlines.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
A functional, working knowledge of modern materials characterization methods and evaluation techniques for materials performance testing in oil field and related energy production environments.
Demonstrated leadership, supervisory experience, work ethic, productivity, scientific creativity, safe laboratory practices, good writing and communication skills, familiarity with DoE methods, good documentation, willingness and ability to learn new technology are desirable characteristics.
Ability to work effectively with all levels and functions of the organization and with outside vendors and contractors is essential.
Excellent communications skills including English spoken and written.
Availability to travel globally approximately 10% of the time
Minimum Education:
Ph.D. degree (with or without postdoctoral work) with at least 7 years work experience OR
M.Sc. degree, a good track record and 10-15 years of work experience
Working Conditions: Research lab environment with some travel to other sites, academic institutions, national labs and customers globally.
